Santa Claus in France

Of all the images I found these two were the best examples. Though when France celebrates Christmas now their Santa Claus may dress exactly as our own, this is how he was originally designed. He still wears red and is an older man with a beard, but he isn't as modern and his robes look more religious based on having crosses on them. I would need a type of crown or headdress instead of a red hat. He also wears a long red cape. I may have a few things that I can use.  I love the traditional costume.

Hi, I'm Kenji.

This week I  got to know my character.  First thing you should know is that my character is actually a boy! We changed it to a girl though because the part could be played by either gender. Kenji is best friends with Sadoko, though he is a few years older. They don't have your typical friendship. It's mainly poor Sadoko being teased, but in the end they always share a good laugh. Kenji only teases her because he cares. He knows that she is capable of so much whether she realizes it or not. When Sadoko is diagnosed with cancer he visits her and is awkward towards her due to seeing her like this. It was just a few weeks ago they were running together, training for the race.

I've really enjoyed playing the role of Kenji. He's cocky yet sweet, charming, and a total goofball wrapped up in one. I love the experience I'm gaining from acting a more comedic role. I can't wait to perform!

First Two Weeks of My Senior Year

The first two weeks of school have went by so fast. I can't believe that I am now a senior. It just doest seem real. It seems like it was just yesterday I was taking theatre for the first time as freshman. Ever since then I have taken it every semester. I've learned so much. So far in just these first two weeks we have not only chosen the play for the Minnie Evans Play Festival, but have also cast every part. We literally have the best cast. Everyone is so talented and positive. We all get along and have fun though each of us is so different. I love that about theatre, no matter how different people are they can come together and make art. I'm so excited to perform this play, I know everyone will be wonderful!
